New Fire Station #2

Project details

As general contractor, Infinity constructed this new two-story, steel bay, ground-up building.  Exterior is stone, with ground face block and curtain wall. A snow melt system services the fire truck bays and all of its outside approaches. The site work includes several bio-swales to collect storm water into a retaining pond.  One half of the building is four drive-through fire truck bays. These bays include fold bi-fold doors which improve response time. This area includes a 3-story hose training tower which extends above the roof, and back of house areas including gear storage, mechanical rooms, and an observation mezzanine.  The other half includes offices for the Chief and Deputy Chiefs, an emergency operations command (EOC) center, two fire poles, bunk areas for 10, two exercise rooms, a large kitchen and pantry, laundry room, training rooms, and theater-style training room.

We encountered unknown underground conditions resulting from part of the site which was used as a dumping ground, which we mitigated with creative field engineering.  Winter weather and a wet spring extended the cure time for concrete pours which required constant resequencing of the schedule.  This project experienced an OSHA inspection in September 2017 which resulted in no citations.  Bidding achieved 28% diverse subcontracting participation,.
