Infinity served as general contractor for this project that renovated space in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC) Annex recently vacated by the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Kent State University. The project provides multiple practice court configurations to support Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Volleyball programs to MAC competition standards. The development center fully encloses with wall partitions to deck to provide acoustic privacy for the teams and surrounding academic areas but will encourage visual connections, through glass openings, to promote a sense of pride and excitement in the University’s athletic teams. New lighting modification and new athletic wood flooring matches the performance characteristics of the competition courts. The scope also includes new Gym and 2nd floor classrooms.
Project took place in a fully occupied facility. Encountered unknown hazardous materials that required abatement. Project achieved 18% diverse subcontracting participation. Despite several complexities the center opened on-time for the school year.
