As general contractor, Infinity was responsible for managing the overall project schedule and coordinating all prime trade contractors. Located on a small, sloping, urban site, this project infilled a new 30,000 square foot building between the existing branch and the library system’s 11,000-sf administrative headquarters. The new addition adds a 400-seat black box auditorium which opens to the public independent of the library’s opening hours. This project incorporates an underfloor system to house HVAC, electrical and data cabling.
This LEED® Silver project incorporates a 2,800 SF green roof, two large bio-retention areas, unique terraced plaza with seat walls, pedestrian entry plaza, and alternative fuel parking stations and spaces. Highly energy efficient glass provides ample natural lighting. This project was a pilot for STEP (Sustainable Technology Environments Program).
This project was completed while the administrative building remained occupied. It required deep rock excavation along the east elevation. We completed masonry and concrete work throughout the winter using temporary protection. We salvaged brick to make a seamless connection between the infill building and the existing library. The project achieved 15.9% diverse subcontracing participation.. There were no loss time accidents.
